New iTunes 9 Blocks Pre Users

The new iTunes 9 was more than simply a mere upgrade for Apple. It symbolized a continuation of the heated battle between Palm and Apple in general and more specifically Pre users syncing with iTunes. Recently, Palm released a fix that bypassed Apple’s block on Pres users and iTunes.

Rather than complain, (like they usually do) Jobs and crew made sure that iTunes 9 again blocked Pre users from syncing content to their handsets. As much as I detest Apple and everything they stand for, this is one of the few times that I am forced to side with the evil empire from Cupertino.

iTunes was created by Apple and they should have full control over which hardware is compatible with their service. People can shout out monopoly until tomorrow for all I care.

Also, instead of investing so much resources and energy into hacking another company’s software, (not very ethical) Palm should invest in their own comparative brand. I guess Palm realized that creating a service like iTunes isn’t as easy as it first appears.

Apple Releases iPhone 3.1 OS and iTunes 9

Apple has just released iTunes 9 and the iPhone 3.1 OS. The ‘Rotten Apples’ were proudly displaying their latest upgrade, reminding those present they their product was vastly superior to anything else on the market and that they had huge male sexual organs. (Perhaps they didn’t make mention of the latter, but they would if they could.)

The main feature of the iPhone 3.1 OS is something called the Genius function. The Genius function recommends apps to users according to their download habits.

Essentially, the main feature of OS 3.1 is for users to spend more and for Apple to make more money. iTunes 9 will allow users to manage their apps in iTunes, thus indicating that there is some validity to the upgrade, unlike the 3.1. I almost dropped my Latte when I discovered that Apple was touting the 3.1 as free. Of course it’s free! Since when does the equivalent of a service pack cost money? It would be like Microsoft charging for XP SP2. The brainwashed fruit cups of Apple Nation should reexamine their loyalties.

New Sports Illustrated BlackBerry App

A great new sports app from Sports Illustrated has beer chugging, wing gorging sports fans jumping for joy.

BlackBerry users can now receive updates about the latest scores, rumors, trades and more right to their BlackBerry. Sports Illustrated has promised to update the app several times a day with new features and picture galleries.

The Sports Illustrated app includes contributions from some of SI’s leading columnists and sports gurus, though sadly appears to be lacking in swimsuits. There is also a useful feature which allows users to view text only, vastly improving speeds when using the crappy WiFi at your local café.

There is also a social media theme, with users able to share the news stories on Twitter and Delicious, as well as via email. Best of all is that the Sport Illustrated app costs nothing. What more could you ask for? Like I said, a few bikini clad females would have been nice.
